About Gordon Parks High School
St. Paul native Gordon Parks’ life and work as a photographer, film-maker, writer, and civil rights activist provides us with a model for the kind of thoughtful, active, and successful citizens we are dedicated to helping our students become.
At Gordon Parks, we provide a dynamic and supportive learning environment where every student is seen, valued, and empowered to succeed. Our flexible programming offers innovative ways for students to meet graduation requirements while engaging in meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
With a strong advisory program, we keep students on track for graduation, offering personalized support alongside a wide range of community partnerships, internships, and job readiness opportunities.
Our dedicated staff specialize in fostering hope and possibility through a rigorous curriculum that extends beyond the classroom. Whether exploring nonfiction writing in English, applying algebra and chemistry through hands-on projects, or participating in community-based art, social studies, and environmental studies programs, students have diverse pathways to success.
At Gordon Parks, we challenge students to think critically, take ownership of their education, and recognize their own potential. We believe that effort is the key to success—just as Maya Angelou reminds us, “Nothing works unless you work.”
Together, we create a school where students don’t just attend—they belong, grow, and thrive.
