Mathematics
The mathematics department at Gordon Parks High school is committed to the belief that all students are able to learn at a high level. The courses taught at Gordon Parks include Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2. These courses are required for graduation and meet the Minnesota Academic Standards.
All teachers are implementing district required initiatives in math. They include Five Easy Steps to a Balanced Math Program; which includes Math Review and Problem Solving. Each math course consists of 3 week units within a nine week quarter.
The material is delivered in an alternative method so students are able to be successful. This includes group work and demonstrating understanding in order to earn credit. Project based curriculum is embedded as part of the math curriculum.
