Staff Profile

Andrea Dishong
My name is Andrea Dishong and I am your School Nurse.
I worked as an Emergency Room Nurse for many years before becoming a School Nurse in 2019.
Please see me if you are a new student so that I can learn about any health concerns you have or ways to assist you with your health needs. The Health Office is considered a safe space. This means that you can talk to me. For real. I will keep your information private and I will not judge you. Sometimes you may need to just vent or rest – you can also do that in the health office. I have a duty to keep you safe, so if you tell me that you are planning to hurt yourself or someone else, I will need to contact some other adults to get more help for you.
Other ways I assist students:
- Making sure state-required immunizations are up-to-date. If yours are not, I will be in touch by phone, mail, or in person. If you’re not sure, just ask me!
- Screening your vision and hearing from time to time, if you haven’t had this done at school in a while.
- Providing medication at school. I can keep medication in the health office for you; I just need a doctor’s order if it is a prescription medicine or a note from your guardian if it is an over-the-counter (something you can buy at the store) medicine. Either way, YOU will need to provide the medicine, I do not have random medication on hand.
- Determining if your health needs require special accommodations or services.
- Providing resources for you to get further evaluation for your health concerns.
Please reach out to me whenever you need to. I’m here to help!
