Hello! My name is Patrick Her and I am thrilled to be a counselor working at Gordon Parks High School. This is my tenth year working with students in our alternative school setting. I have worked in the Saint Paul Public Schools as a School Guidance Counselor for the past twenty years.  

I really enjoy helping our students to make informed college decisions. I also enjoy working with students so that they can reach their academic potential. School counseling is a calling for me because I believe so strongly in helping students to overcome obstacles that they are facing in their lives. In addition, I stay well informed about college and career planning so I may assist our students in those areas as well. 

I graduated with both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Prior to becoming a school counselor in the Saint Paul Public Schools, I had the opportunity to work with college students at UW-Platteville and high school students at East High School in Madison, Wisconsin.  

In my spare time, I enjoy playing the six pipe instrument known as Qeej, hunting, and being outdoors with friends and family.
